Rome, 1980. Goliarda Sapienza sees her great work "The Art of Joy" rejected by all Italian publishing houses. Financially exhausted and deeply disappointed, she is in prison for a petty theft. Her unexpected encounter with young fellow inmates proves to be a decisive experience. After their release, the women continue to meet during the summer in Italy.
Goliarda develops a deep bond with Roberta, a young lawbreaker and political activist. Through this relationship, which moves on the borders of friendship, kinship, and rebellion, Goliarda rediscovers the joy of life and the inspiration to write again.
In Italian with Greek subtitles.
